Sook, 22 July 2025 — The Gender Sensitivity Programme held at Kampung Pinipi Hall, Sook, achieved its objectives of increasing awareness and understanding of gender issues among rural communities.

The event, held from 8 am to approximately 2 pm, involved more than 200 participants from various local backgrounds. Organised by the Sabah Women's Affairs Department with the Sook District Office, Keningau, it included interactive activities and sharing sessions that benefited the community.

The programme was opened by the Honourable Datuk Flovia Ng, Sabah Assistant Minister of Community Development and People's Wellbeing. She emphasised the importance of raising rural communities' awareness of gender-related rights and responsibilities to create a fairer, more inclusive and harmonious society.

In addition to talks and discussions, participants took part in practical exercises and group activities designed to strengthen their understanding of gender issues and build mutual respect.

Participants responded positively, describing the initiative as highly beneficial and expressing the hope that similar programmes would continue and reach other rural areas in Sabah.

Following the programme's success, it is hoped that awareness of gender sensitivity will continue to grow, helping create a more harmonious, fair and prosperous society for all.
